Health office immunizes 127,014 children

THE City Health Office has already vaccinated 127,014 children below five years old as the immunization against measles and polio continue.

The mass immunization started September 1 and ends September 30. It is a project of the Department of Health (DOH) in partnership with local government units.

City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said that 59,525 of the 127,014 children were vaccinated against measles while 67,489 for Oral Polio Vaccines.

Agbulos said his office have not scheduled any other activity this month to enable them to focus on the mass immunization program.

He urged parents with children below five years old to bring them to the health centers in their respective villages.

He is optimistic they will be able to reach the target numbers of children to be immunized.

The Department of Health targets to immunize 104,719 children against measles and 122,931 children against polio in this city.

The mass immunization campaign is anchored on the theme “Ligtas sa Tigdas, Magkaisa, Magpabakuna.”

The mass vaccination is geared towards attaining measles and polio free Philippines.
