DTI turns over 11 SSF projects

A TOTAL of 11 shared service facilities (SSFs) worth P6.138 million have already been established in Davao Region as of August 2014.

According to the data released by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 11, the project benefited 237 micro, small, and medium enterprises and generated 1,366 jobs.

More than half of the SSFs established are in the food processing sector which includes banana, coffee processing, organic rice, coco coir, and meat. Other industries include bamboo craft, handicrafts, and organic fertilizer.

A total of four SSFs were established in Davao City, three each in Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur, and one in Compostela Valley.

SSFs in Davao City included the P900,000 worth banana powder production facility of the Subasta ARB Agricultural Cooperative in Calinan; P900,000 banana powder processing expansion of Progressive Highland Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC) in Toril; P80,000 upcycled handicraft project of the Toril Kalambuan Association in Toril; and P880,000 meat processing facilities of the Davao City Federation of Backyard Livestock and Poultry Raisers in Matina Aplaya.

In Davao del Norte, the SSFs that were established included the P200,000 organic fertilizer processing of the Women's Sunrise MPC in New Corella; P490,000 banana fiber processing project of the Marsman Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries MPC in Sto. Tomas; and the P297,000 organic fertilizer processing facility of the Masaoy del Pilar Farmers Irrigators Association in New Corella.

The P485,000 coffee processing facility of the Jose Rizal Farmers Association in Sta. Cruz; the P965,000 coco coir, twining, and weaving processing facility of the Bulacan Coconut Farmers Association MPC; and the P455,000 organic rice packaging equipment of the Magsaysay Organic Farmers Marketing Cooperative in Magsaysay were the SSFs established in Davao del Sur.

The SSF in Comval was the P486,000 bamboo craft facility of the Maco Municipal Federation of the Council of Women Inc. in Maco.
