One fine day in Manila Ocean Park

I LOVE birthdays. It should be celebrated because our life is a gift from God. We should affirm the celebrator with even a simple party.

My sister’s birthday fell on a Saturday. A family friend also has the same birthday. It was a double celebration. We wanted a different kind of feast. Her son suggested that we go to Manila Ocean Park. It was a wonderful idea.

Manila Ocean Park is a marine theme park and educational facility that is a first in the Philippines. The park has many attractions that include the Oceanarium, a big area with different kinds of fishes including sharks and sting rays.

There is also the Jellies Exhibit where you can appreciate God’s creation of the jelly fishes. They were dancing like fairies.

Another attraction is the Trails of Antartica where we interacted with the penguins and shouted loud in the Slide o’ fun.

We also watched the Sea Lion Show where the sea lions showcased their talents. It was really cute.

The fish spa was relaxing but it was also very ticklish. The fish “ate” the dead skin of our feet. Think of more than 10 fishes nibbling at your toes and ankles. It was fun once you get used to it after about two minutes.

We also went to the Penguin Talk Show. We met Hamboo, the penguin. He was funny.

I was also able to experience “Aquanaut” – where one dives in the main tank and walks or swims with the sharks, fishes and other marine life.

We missed other attractions like the Birds of Prey, the Bird Show, the Musical Fountain Show (as the site was being renovated) and Sharks Encounter.

There are also shops in the park as well as Duty Free. There is a hotel and a pool for excursions and parties.

One day is not enough. There is a reason to come back. It was full of fun! The entrance fee is worth it especially if you get a good deal and discount.
