Grassroots football course attracts 58

THE just-concluded Davao Football Association, Inc. (DFAI) Grassroots Course (GCF) had attracted a total of 58 participants at the Philippine College of Technology, DMSF (Gahol) Drive, Garden Park Village, Bajada recently.

Coaches and players from the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC), Ateneo de Davao University, PCT, Southpoint School of Davao, St. Paul, Philippine Women's College of Davao, D' Davao Survivors, Holy Cross of Mintal, Crocs FC, KMMPC FC, Exegesis, Matina Central Elementary School, Mintal FC, Hyenas FC, IndanganStrippling Warriors, Amsai, Catalunan Grande and Antonio O. Floirendo Elem. School of Panabo City joined the two-day course.

PCT coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon said coaching fundamentals; age-group characteristics; skill, technique and tactical development; and coaching pedagogy were tackled during the course.

Also present during the course were Dr. Gener A. Balili, chief executive officer and founder of Philippine College of Technology and DFA board of director and women's committee chairperson Rachelle delos Reyes. The latter also spearheaded the course.

The project was also supported by Hyenas FC director Butch D. Echavezan corporate secretary Rex Rodriguez and Prof. Charles Butlig of Davao City National High School.

Meanwhile, Delos Reyes said teams are welcome to join the Grassroots Festival that will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Tionko field.

"It will have fun games and drills. It is open for boys and girls aged six to 12 years old and is open to advanced and beginners," Delos Reyes added.

She said all participants will receive certificates. (MLSA)
