Eagles aim for second Cesafi title

THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles will go for the kill against the struggling University of the Visayas Baby Lancers in Game 2 of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school finals series at 5:30 p.m. today at the Cebu Coliseum.

After their dominating 56-51 win last Tuesday, the Eagles are now primed to win their second Cesafi title against the Baby Lancers, who haven’t beaten the Eagles this season.

“We will to play with better intensity than we did in Game 1. I’m glad that the boys are up to the challenge of trying to finish the series tomorrow. We will just stick to our game plan and play tough defense throughout the game,” SHS-AdC head coach Rommel Rasmo told Sun.Star Cebu.

One of the biggest assets that the Eagles enjoy over the Baby Lancers is their deep bench.

Rasmo could play up to 12 players without worrying of giving up his advantage in height, size and intensity.

With players coming in fresh all the time, Rasmo’s worry will lie solely on the execution of their game plan.

SHS-AdC’s big guns were slowed by the Baby Lancers’s defense with leading scorer Jan-Jan Jaboneta, Joshua Sinclair and Zacky Huang limited to a combined 20 points, Rasmo is hoping his reliable players will improve their scoring.

“We will be defending their transition game and will try to challenge their shooters.

And also, we will make sure that we will control the rebounds,” said Rasmo.

But UV will try everything to force a rubber-match.

Coach Delfin Pepito will try to get the offense of Joshua Flores, Orlan Wamar and Sammy Schaub fired up after they were held below their averages in Game 1.
