Sugarcane worker found dead

THE decomposing body of a sugarcane worker was found inside the Mt. Kanla-on Natural Park at Sitio Wasay, Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental Wednesday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Reyboy Horada, 31, of Barangay Lub-lob Valderama, Antique, who was temporarily staying at Barangay Minoyan.

Senior Inspector Lawrence Bathan, chief Murcia Municipal Police Station, said yesterday that Horada’s body sustained multiple stab and hack wounds.

The victim could have been killed about five days before his body was found, he added.

The cadaver was brought to Lourdes Funeral Homes and has been subjected to postmortem examination.

Bathan said they are still conducting further investigation to identity the suspect.

Meanwhile, the body of an alleged victim of summary execution found in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental remains unidentified.

Senior Inspector Ariel Pico, chief of Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said Thursday that since Monday, people from Ma-ao, Bago City and Hinigaran town went to the station to check the male body, all of them failed to identify him.

The victim was found Monday buried inside a sugarcane plantation at Hacienda Monserat, Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto. (MAP)
