Ferrer bares political options

LA CARLOTA CITY – Negros Occidental Fourth District Representative Jeffrey Ferrer revealed Thursday his options after his term in Congress ends in 2016.

"I could run for mayor, board member or vice governor of the province," said Ferrer, who is married to La Carlota Mayor Juliet Ferrer.

“At this time, since 2016 is still far, I have not decided yet on what to choose among those options,” he added.

He did not reveal in what locality he will run if he decides to seek a mayoral post. He has served as mayor of La Carlota for three terms, but reports have it that this time, he will run for mayor of Bago City.

However, Ferrer confirmed that their group has already chosen who will be his successor without confirming that it would be his wife.

Ferrer also said that his alliance with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. continues and he even described it as, "it's more than an alliance, it’s a family matter."

He also dismissed the possibility of a “third force” in Negros politics.

“There's no such thing as 'third force ' in the province," Ferrer said.*
