MassKara banners of telecom firm destroyed

THE Bacolod City Police Office Station 3 is intensifying its monitoring efforts to identify the suspects who destroyed the banners and promotional materials of Smart Communications being displayed for the MassKara Festival.

Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag of Police Station 3 said Friday he ordered his intelligence officers to monitor the operations of lawless elements within his area of jurisdiction.

The said publicity materials were put up along Barangays Mandalagan and Bata, Bacolod Government Center (People’s House), Lacson Street, and Talisay and Bacolod boundary.

Jensen Yap, a merchandising coordinator of Smart Inc., told the police on Friday that at about 1:30 a.m., their banners displayed along Lacson Street in Barangays Mandalagan and Bata were slashed and destroyed by unidentified suspects.

Last October 11, William Lebanan, 33, territory manager of Smart Retail Merchandising in Western Visayas, told the police that at about 12:56 a.m., four suspects were found removing their banner materials along Zone 15 Barangay Bubog Talisay City, and loaded them into their L-300 van.

Police then arrested Romulo Tumambo Jr. 32, of Manapla; Richel Lavega, 31, of Sagay City; Romulo Dodoso, 32, of Bago City; and Ryan Jangayo, 31, of Barangay 35, Bacolod City, police records show.

Police recovered from the suspects 49 Smart banners. However, the four suspects were released on October 12, the police said.

Chief Inspector Dianne Catedral, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office, also reminded the station commanders of Police Stations 1, 2, 3 and 4 to intensify their visibility patrol to preempt the possible operations of lawless elements that will take advantage of the MassKara Festival celebration.
