CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Capitol officials led by Governor Lilia Pineda will join Monday the Diocesan Clergy, the religious and thousands of laity in welcoming Archbishop-elect Florentino Lavarias as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Jived with the Provincial Government's regular Monday flag-raising ceremonies, the civil reception for the incoming prelate who will replace Archbishop Emeritus Paciano Aniceto, will see Pineda extending the warm welcome in behalf of Pampanga's estimated 3.3 Catholics.
Symbolic keys from the province and the cities of Angeles and San Fernando will also be handed over to Lavarias, the fourth archbishop of the Metropolitan See of San Fernando, Pampanga.
A medal from Mabalacat City where Lavarias was born in 1957 will also be conferred him after his acceptance.
At 9:30 a.m. the same day, Lavarias will troop to the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Fernando for the liturgical reception, Eucharistic celebration and canonical taking possession which will be presided by Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Giuseppe Pinto, D.D.
Last July 25, Pope Francis appointed Lavarias, who had been the bishop of the diocese in Iba, Zambales. (JTD)
