Saint Louis spoil King’s College BBEAL basketball debut

SAINT LOUIS University routed the King’s College of the Philippines 102-18, in the women’s basketball opening game of the 29th Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) at the University of Baguio gymnasium last Friday.

The 2013 and 2014 BBEAL women’s defending champion is off to a rousing start as its hunt a rare three-peat in the league.

Maria Kaila Rose Maligsa led the Lady Navigators’ scoring with 16 points. Anna May Tamondong and rookie Hazelle Habon contributed 10 points each.

As proof of its dominance, Saint Louis’s lead ballooned to more than 60 points, 67-15 in the third period.

“We came in with a worthy performance, the team did well and the ball rotation was very impressive despite playing against a feeble team. We hope to bring this momentum along with us throughout the whole BBEAL basketball season,” SLU coach Raymund Austria said.

“Although maganda yung pinakita ng team, even those who were in the bench we still have to improve with our defense. We really need that para tuloy-tuloy ang energy ng mga bata,” Austria said.

Earlier, University of the Cordilleras swamped Pines City College, 90-26.
