CIDG nabs suspects of heinous crimes

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) North and Central Luzon Unit nabbed 46 most wanted persons and suspects of heinous crimes this year.

CIDG chief Jimmy Catanes said there were another 102 individuals wanted for various offenses were likewise collared bringing the total to 158 arrests.

CIDG is an attached agency of the PNP with a mandate to solve heinous crimes and arrest suspects linked to high-profile cases.

In a report to the Regional Advisory Council Catanes said the arrests were made possible with help from personnel of various units of the Philippine National Police.

Topping the top most wanted person arrested in April was a female suspect for strings of large-scale illegal recruitment.

The eight most wanted persons in the provincial level who were arrested are wanted for rape, multiple rape, robbery, murder and robbery.

The nine most wanted person in the municipal level are wanted for attempted murder, statutory rape, frustrated homicide, estafa and other offenses.

The CIDG director stressed the arrest of eight members of the dreaded Acetylene Gang, which is behind the series of robbery cases on pawnshops and banks.

The CIDG has also coordinated with the PNP’s campaign against members of Private Armed Groups with the arrest of 11 suspects and recovery of 14 assorted firearms.

Another nine drug personalities were likewise neutralized by the agency in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency since the start of the year.

Seven cases against these arrested persons involved in illegal drug trade were filed in courts.

The CIDG also rescued minors in a bar in Buguias and Abatan this year, the arrest of bar managers who have forcefully taken the minors was also undertaken.
