Bacolod to host PH MiceCon in 2016

BACOLOD City will host the Philippine Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions/Events (Mice) Conference or MiceCon in 2016, the City Hall said yesterday.

This was announced by Stanie Soriano, acting head of the Tourism Promotions Board (PTB), as she turned over the MICE hosting requirements to Mayor Monico Puentevella.

The TPB is an attached agency of the Department of Tourism and is the lead agency spearheading MiceCon in partnership with Mice-Philippines and the Philippine Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers (Paceos).

The convention in Bacolod will be held for three days and will feature resource speakers from other countries.

Meanwhile, Soriano led the country’s top event organizers in their courtesy call on Puentevella yesterday.

Puentevella was joined by Councilors Wilson Gamboa and Jocelle Sigue in welcoming the visitors.

Sigue, chairman of the SP Committee on Tourism and Promotions, had been lobbying with the PTB to let Bacolod host the Mice.

Puentevella told the event organizers that Bacolod needs their help for a successful Mice hosting.

The mayor also acknowledged the presence of Ryan Uy, vice president for Strategic Sales and Revenue Management of SMX Convention Center.

The mayor said that with SMX Bacolod, the city is “starting to go international” considering that the famous MassKara Festival is already recognized as one of the world’s best festivities.
