Heaven on earth: Miss Earth 2014 long gown competition

THE Group 1 delegates of Miss Earth 2014 vied for the pageant’s long gown competition titles at Level 8 Bar in Adnama Bldg, Nov. 17 at the North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City, Cebu. In their refined graces, 28 ladies from all over the world transformed the stage into a galaxy of beautiful creatures. The audience was captivated. And just like stars at the break of dawn, three beauties shone the brightest among the rest.

Clad in a flowing white satin was Tahiti’s Hereata Ellard. She was her own goddess; her own Venus. Hereata flaunted with confidence a Nels piece—a long, sleeveless V-neck white garment ornate with jewels at the waist and straps. Adding drama to the creation was a thin cape attached at the back of the dress as well as a headpiece which complement the entire outfit. Impressive in her Greek elegance, Hereata landed with the bronze award.

Zaira Bas of Spain was sophisticated in a beige trouser-gown by Javier Alcantara. As the entire garb is inspired by a bird’s flight, Zaira had wings to fly. The delicate appeal, silky aura and Greek touch of her wear collectively exuded a stunning collaboration. Zaira came down second.

She was a star by default but she was more of like the moon in the luminosity of her gown. India’s Alankrita Sahai owned the night. Elaborating her hour-glass figure was a gold Jatin Vesma design. Hugged by golden dusts down the knees, Alankrita radiates with stardust. She breezed through the night like an Indian princess in loved. But with the blow of her gown’s tail, she was a golden mermaid of the sky; yet, equally seductive. Alankrita earned first place.

For the special awards, Puerto Rico’s Franceska Toro was Miss Psalmstre while Czech Republic’s Nikola Buranská was Miss Placenta.

Miss Earth 2014 is the 14th edition of the pageant to culminate tomorrow night, Nov. 29 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City. This year’s theme revolves around the promotion of ecotourism and ecological conservation for economic development and friendship among nations. Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich of Venezuela is expected to pass on the crown to this year’s victor. JSL
