A TOP official of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (Zamboecozone) has requested the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) an initial P150 million funding to jumpstart the construction of its seaport.
This was announced by Zamboecozone Chairman and Administrator Christopher Lawrence Arnuco citing they have already completed the hydrographic survey in preparation for the construction of the port.
Arnuco said the seaport will be constructed at the seafront of the Zamboecozone at Sitio San Ramon in the village of Talisayan.
He said the Regional Development Council (RDC) has favorably endorsed the construction of a port at the Zamboecozone that would cost P500 million.
He said the construction of the port at the Zamboecozone will take three years to complete.
Once completed, the port will directly link the 15 Zamboecozone locators to the Asean market.
At present the Zamboecozone locators ship their products through the port of Zamboanga located downtown, which is managed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
