Four ‘drug pushers’ escape Medellin jail

FOUR prisoners who are suspected drug pushers escaped yesterday dawn from the Medellin District Jail.

The inmates are identified as Rene Benaro Solon, Alvic Arrabis Inot, Joselito Abrao Pantaleon and Kim Flores Invento.

SPO1 Ryan Castro, Medellin Police Station deputy investigator, said the personnel of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) reported the prison break at 5 a.m.

He said the inmates bolted from the jail about two hours earlier.

The jail facility is located in Barangay Caputatan Sur and is situated near a vast sugarcane plantation, which could be the escape route of the escapees.

Hunt

The police joined in the hunt for the suspected drug pushers yesterday, but they failed to recapture them.

Solon is from Kawit, Medellin; Inot hails from Pajo, Daanbantayan; and Pantaleon and Invento are from Lamintak Sur; and Dayhagon in Medellin, said Castro.

Aside from going to the places of Solon, Pantaleon and Invento, the two teams of police officers were deployed to scour Barangays Dalingding Sur, Maharuhay, Caputatan Sur, Caputatan Norte, Curva, Panugnawan, Canhabagat, Don Virgilio Gonzales, Lamintak Sur and Lamintak Norte.

Daanbantayan Police Station was also informed about Inot’s escape.

Cases

The inmates are facing cases of illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Castro said they had transferred Invento to the jail just three months ago, while Solon was caught last year.

Inot was caught by the police in Daanbantayan, while Pantaleon was collared in San Remigio.
