Luis Manzano declines movie project with Angel, Vilma

Television host Luis Manzano has declined an offer to do a movie with his mother, Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, and girlfriend, actress Angel Locsin. He said he does not want to capitalize on their relationships to promote a movie.

“I’d be working with my mom and my girlfriend. Parang masyadong personal na sa akin yun. Kumbaga (nasa) showbiz ako pero hindi ako showbiz. I treasure those relationships,” he said in a Cinema News interview aired over the weekend.

The 33-year-old said he already fulfilled his goal to work with his mother in 2009 Star Cinema flick In My Life.

“Kung yung angle na yun (movie with Santos), okay na, nagawa ko na. Kung si Angel something episodic, okay ako. Pero para ilagay yung pagkatao ko talaga, kasama mommy ko, kasama si Angel, that’s a bit too much on my part,” he said. Luis admitted that Vilma and Angel were initially baffled by his decision.

“Sabi ko sa kanila, let’s put it this way, kasi kayo will be working with one aspect. Ako, dalawa sa very personal sa buhay ko ang makakasa ko, mapapanood ng tao, mapaglalaruan ng tao. May iba na baka sabihin lang na promo yung relationship ko sa kanila. Yun ang iniiwasan ko,” he said.

Meanwhile, Luis is still contemplating whether he will seek an elective post in Batangas in 2016. He said he’s still talking to a lot of people and getting advice from trusted friends and colleagues. But if he decides to enter politics, Luis said his showbiz career will have to take a backseat.

“Kung sakali man na tumakbo ako, the voters need my undivided attention. It will be very unfair sa isang botante na kung tatakbo ako, ipagkakatiwala nila ang buhay nila, especially for a first-timer. Magiging hati yung attention ko. Kung sakali, I really have to slow down sa mga ginagawa ko sa showbiz,” Luis said.
