Revamp at City Hall

ON THE first working day of 2015, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama announced a revamp at the City Hall.

He told all department heads to perform well in the next three to six months, or else there’ll be another reshuffling.

Changes affected the Human Resource Department Office (HRDO), which is now headed by Atty. Mary Ann Suson, with Veronica Morelos as her assistant.

Atty. Dominic Diño, former HRDO chief, is the mayor’s new chief of staff with a concurrent position as assistant city administrator for economic enterprise.

He used to be Rama’s chief of staff when the latter was still vice mayor and was later assigned as assistant city administrator when Rama first became mayor in 2010.

Diño replaced Dianne Muego, who is the new assistant protocol officer.

Two heads

Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) no longer has a chief of hospital. Instead, it has to persons running it.

Dr. Gloria Duterte is director for medical services, while Atty. Rey Cris Panugaling is director for administration matters.

Asked why he opted to have two persons running the facility, Rama said hospital management is a big job.

“I have seen that one head cannot handle the whole CCMC alone, i-divide gyod kay dako ug daghan ang trabahuon (one person cannot handle all that work so it must be divided),” he said.

Raddy Diola, who represents the mayor at the local school board, was also appointed to oversee Rama’s “special projects.”

Last year, Rama announced that there would be a revamp of department heads this month if they failed to perform well in their duties and functions.

The order was effective last Jan. 1.

Still at their posts

Although other department heads were not affected, the mayor still asked them to continuing doing a good job.

Lucelle Mercado is still city administrator, while Diwa Cuevas is city treasurer, with Tessie Camarillo as her assistant.

The Department of Engineering and Public Works is still headed by Engr. Jose Marie Poblete, while Engr. Kenneth Carmelita Enriquez is City Planning and Development Office head.

Dr. Daisy Villa heads the City Health Department, while Dr. Pilar Romero heads the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries.

Marietta Gumia is still the budget officer, while Atty. Mark Solomon is still the city accountant.

Those who were not mentioned still head the remaining departments of the City.

Rama also warned city employees that their contract will not be renewed if they fail to serve the public well.
