Aquino hit for Sangley airport plan

ANGELES CITY -- A leader of the National Transformation Council and Guardians Brotherhood International Unified Command (Guardians) assailed the Aquino administration for pursuing the development of a new international airport in Sangley Point, Cavite.

Alfonso "Sonny" Dobles, head of the NTC in Central Luzon, said the government only needs to expand and develop Clark International Airport (CRK) as the country’s premier gateway.

"The government will no longer spend billions of pesos to develop a new airport. Clark airport already exists," Dobles said.

He also branded the President as anti-Central Luzon saying that the people in the region are clamoring for the full development of Clark airport.

Dobles also asked Aquino to resign claiming that the President has no plan to develop the airport. "He failed the people of Central Luzon."

He also said that the construction of a new airport in Cavite will have an impact on the environment because of the reclamation of some parts of the area.

"Environmentalists will oppose the plan because of the project's impact on the environment," Dobles said.

Members of the NTC Central Luzon and Guardians, in a recent assembly here, called on the national government to fully develop CRK into an international gateway.

Dobles also asked members of the Guardians in Northern and Central Luzon to support local leaders and businessmen fighting for the development of Clark airport.
