Yanson’s Nofa leadership welcomed

A NEW leadership in the Negros Occidental Football Association (Nofa) will be good for Negros football, Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella said.

Ricardo “Ricky” Yanson Jr. of Dynamic Football Club and Ceres-La Salle FC has been elected president in December after former congressman Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco stepped down from the presidency.

“Let’s support Ricky and Leo Rey Yanson. We must retain our titles in the the UFL FA League Cup and PFF-Smart Club Championships, as well as try our best in the Asian Football Confederation Cup,” Puentevella said.

Yanson has been the frontrunner of successful stagings of age-group Dynamic Football League, providing an avenue for aspiring football players from the grassroots.

Joining Yanson in the Nofa Board are San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo Valmayor Jr. as vice president, and directors Junie Lizares (Minuluan FC), Raymando Baldava (Don Bosco FC), Mariano Antonio Cui III (San Carlos FC), Jose Ma. Sanson (Bago City FC), Augustine Rey Rivas (Kabankalan FC), Gerald Pornan (Ma-ao FC), and Cojuangco, representing Pontevedra FC, as honorary board member and chairman emeritus.

Nofa general-secretary Paulline Javelona said the new set of officers will formally take office on January 15 while the general assembly will be held on January 30. (HGD)
