AMAS, Kidapwan City -- Another batch of small entrepreneurs from Kidapawan City received financial assistance from the provincial government last October 10 after checks were turned over to them by no less than North Cotabato Governor Emmylou "Lala" Tali¤o-Mendoza.
Coming from the city's different barangays like Poblacion, Magsaysay., Sto. Nino, Singao, Mua-an and Sudapin, the 46 recipients of the Serbisyong Totoo Entrepreneurial Program (STEP), a micro-financing/cost recovery scheme of the provincial government, were filled with gratitude to the provincial government especially the governor who graced the turnover program held at Magsaysay Barangay Hall.
Beneficiaries received P2,000 loan assistance each payable to the provincial government within six months without interest.
Mendoza, on the other hand, said the provincial government’s intention for the program is to give small and micro entrepreneurs additional capital to their existing livelihood projects, increase their income and eventually free them from private lenders.
She added that she and her partners in the Provincial Board are one in looking for means to provide basic services and significant projects for Cotabateños, recognizing help from other government agencies and NGOs.
According to the Office of the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), good payers will be eligible for the second and third tranche where each recipient will receive 4,000 loan assistance and a grant of 5,000, respectively.
Other municipalities who benefited of the said program launched last December 2014 include Makilala, Midsayap, Alamada, Matalam, Kabacan, and Tulunan.
