THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is preparing to transfer Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to the transitory site at Sitio Masepla in the village of Mampang, Zamboanga City.
DSWD regional disaster focal person Rosalie Casinillo said there are 504-room bunkhouses and 253 single-detach temporary housing units at the transitory site named as "Mampang I" and "Mampang II."
Casinillo said the bunkhouses and six of the single-detach temporary housing units are in Mampang I while 247 single-detach houses are in Mampang II.
Casinillo said they are encouraging the families who are still housed in evacuation tents at the Mayor Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex to transfer to Mampang site.
Casinillo said they are giving free food packs to the families who will transfer to Mampang, which is far from the city proper.
DSWD records show 1,399 IDP-families are at the sports complex.
She said the transferees will also receive assistance from non-government organizations. (Bong Garcia)
