AT LEAST a dozen sports events will be held in Iloilo City during the month of January in time for the Dinagyang Festival 2015.
Moises Salomon of the city sports office said of the 12sports events, at least five are international competitions.
The events started with a body building completion last January 9 at the Robinsons Place Iloilo followed by a jet ski exhibition at the Iloilo River Esplanade on January 10.
The Dinagyang Elite Basketball League will reel on January 16-23 with the participation of some PBA and UAAP players to be held at the University of San Agustin gym.
The Dinagyang Bamboo Tree Golf Tournament will be on January 17-18 at the Iloilo Golf and Country Club at Sta Barbara, Iloilo. The 2nd international boxing tournament for kids between Australia and Iloilo will be held on January 17 at the Robinsons Place.
The marathon runs for 21K and 5K will be held on January 18 while the national bastonero arnis tournament will be held on January 22-24 at SM City Iloilo.
The national airsoft competition with 8 teams will be held on January 23-24 at SM City Iloilo while the 8th national age group swimfest will be held on January 23-24 at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
The first ultra marathon race for 100K to 200K will be held January 24 for the southern Iloilo run.
Salomon also said the Taekwondo international championship tournament will be held in Iloilo City on February 26 to March 6, 2015 to be participated by teams from 9 countries including the United States, Canada, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia and the Philippines.
