Quarry truck thief arrested

PORAC -- A suspect was recently arrested in a raid conducted by the operatives of the Porac Municipal Police Station (MPS) at Purok 5 Pabalan, Barangay Manibaug, this town around 3 p.m.

Police Superintendent Neil Miro identified the suspect as Francis Garcia, who was reported to be an employee and driver of complainant and Isuzu truck owner Michael Dela Cruz.

Based on police investigation, the suspect, along with two helpers identified as Eroll Villanueva and Reyno Manaois, initially hauled gravel and sand from the Manibaug quarry in Porac for delivery to Manila.

Police said that the helpers, however, were surprised when the suspect pointed a kitchen knife at them and warned them to step out of the truck along Barangay Sta. Cruz in this town.

“The helpers jumped off the truck, which gave the suspect a chance to accelerate the vehicle and leave. They immediately sought the help of the Porac police,” said Miro, adding that the suspect was nowhere to be found in the village where the truck was last seen.

The suspect, according to the Porac police, was found with the help of the complainants in Malolos, Bulacan, where he confessed to selling the truck.

Garcia, who faces a warrantless charge for violation of Republic Act 6539 or Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972, is currently under the custody of the Porac police.
