PB approves 19 towns’ projects

AT LEAST 19 towns will get projects early this year through the 20-percent development fund of the Province.

The Cebu Povincial Board (PB) approved at least 26 resolutions last Jan. 19 for the implementation of various projects with a total amount of P10.731 million.

The projects to be implemented will be funded by the 20-percent development fund from the Capitol’s Internal Revenue Allotment.

For the first district, PB Member Raul Alcoseba sponsored a resolution authorizing Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III to grant P210,000 as financial assistance to Barangay Valencia, Carcar City.

The amount will be used for the installation and maintenance of street lights in the barangay.

Second district

PB Member Peter John Calderon sponsored six resolutions for the projects to be implemented in Santader, Samboan and Moalboal in the second district.

A P3.741-million assistance will be given to the town of Santander, while Moalboal will get P4 million for the construction of its waterworks system.

Samboan will get a total of P1 million to build a water reservoir in Barangays Camburoy, Monteverde and Tangbo of Samboan.

Barangay Lanao in Moalboal will receive P50,000 for the construction of a multi-purpose building.

PB Member Christopher Baricuatro, through his resolutions, authorized Davide to release financial assistance to the barangays of Dumanjug, Badian, Boljoon, Alcantara, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Argao, Ginatilan, Moalboal, Dalaguete, Ronda and Oslob.

At least 12 barangays in Argao will be handed cash assistance to buy water pipelines, improve the water system, complete covered courts, expand electrification, buy hand-held radios, fix roads and install street lights.

In Dumanjug, Barangays Balaygtiki, Tubod Bitoon, Liong and Cogon will be given P10,000 to P20,000.

A total of P730,000 will be taken out from the 20-percent Development Fund for the 12 towns that Baricuatro sponsored in his resolutions.

Third district

For the third district, PB Member Sanchez endorsed five resolutions authorizing the governor to grant P50,000 each to Barangay Poblacion 8 and Daan Lungsod in Tuburan, Barangay Camugao and Binabag in Pinamugajan.

The amount is for the barangays to improve day care centers, road concreting and procurement of materials for water systems.

“The request is necessary and beneficial to the barangay and the same is recommended for approval and grant,” a part of the resolution read.

PB Member Thadeo Ouano sponsored another five resolutions for various projects in the 6th district.

An amount of P50,000 each will be given to Barangays Bangbang, San Miguel and Cogon in Cordova for the fabrication and installation of railings for a newly-cemented barangay road, road concreting and rehabilitation.

Barangays Bakilid and Guizo of Mandaue City will receive P100,000 each for the construction of a multi-purpose hall extension.

PB Member Celestino Martinez III sponsored a resolution granting P400,000 to Barangay Lanao in Dalaguete for the purchase of GI pipes.
