PUJ fare rate in Zambo reduced

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) advised the operators and drivers of Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) to comply with the new fare matrix issued by the agency.

LTFRB-Zamboanga Peninsula Administrative Assistant Mila Toribio said appropriate penalties will be slapped to operators and drivers found violating the new fare matrix.

Toribio said the Board has reduced the minimum fare by P.050, which means the minimum fare per passenger for the first four kilometers is P7.

The new fare rate is effective February 3, this year, he said.

Toribio said they will summon the erring operators or drivers for preliminary investigation once a complaint is filed against them.

Once guilty, the erring operators or drivers will be slapped with fine as follows: P5,000, first offense; P10,000 and 30-days impoundment of the vehicle, second offense; and P15,000 and cancelation of certificate of public convenience for third offense.

Toribio said PUJ operators must secure the new fare matrix from the LTFRB to be posted in their respective vehicle.

She also advised commuters to check whether the PUJ has the required fare matrix.
