Sangil: The Party That Was

AWASH WITH CASH -It is nice to have money. You can do and accomplish things all at the same time. Clark Developmemt Corporation (CDC) is awash with cash, no doubt. Tens of millions of pesos from their coffers were spent on several projects, and the good thing about it was that all the projects were finished in time for the APEC senior officers meeting. Applause is in order for all those who took charge, starting with my friend lawyer Art Tugade, president of CDC.

Hereunder are projects accomplished by CDC with the corresponding amounts. 1. Traffic lights in four locations=P9.26 million. 2. LED streetlights= P18.77 million. 3. Parade ground jogging path, comfort room and benches= P4.623 million. 4. Parade ground lighting =P6.211million. 5. Renovation of museum building= P11.32 million. 6. Curatorial work( for the museum)= P18.41 million. 7.Theater building (360 sq.m)=P5.7 million. 8. 4D theater equipment=P35 million 9. 4D film 18 minutes RISEN FROM THE ASHES P13.85 million (P700,000 per minute).

The contractors were happy smiling on their way to their banks as they did enjoy, for sure, generous profits they made.

WORKS IN PROGRESS- Outside Clark Freeport, in Angeles City the two main arteries-Pandan-Magalang road and the West Circumferential road are still works in progress. The target completion supposedly was before the APEC seniors meeting which took place inside Clark Freeport and participated by more than a thousand delegates from many countries. The meeting was already concluded Sunday, February 7.

At least some flower boxes were arranged by the Angeles City government on the center island of the main Abacan bridge.

OXFORD HOTEL- In the recent months the renovation of the Oxford Hotel inside Clark Freeport started. It was finished in time for the great party hosted by the provincial government of Pampanga led by Governor Lilia 'Nanay' Pineda. It can be an experience of a lifetime for the many APEC delegates as a brass band treated them with Pampango folk songs.

The giant lanterns met with so much applause from the attending delegates including local visitors. Fireworks lighted the skies of Clark and brightened by those pretty usherettes in their Maria Clara dress.

I am sure Governor Baby was so delighted on the success of the party as many hours really were spent in the preparation. The efforts paid off.

TRIVIAS- Many hotels had their cash registers ringing as many achieved 90% occupancy. SM Clark maybe registered it's record breaking sales in a month because of the APEC affair...The militant group Anakpawis party list staged lightning rally at the Clark main gate voicing their sentiments against APEC, while the National Organizing Committee of the latter said the summit would lead to many economic benefits... The Pampanga Chamber of Commerce (PAMCHAM) led by President Jess Nicdao and Levi P. Laus chairman emeritus were seen during the party together with Pruds Garcia of Mekeni Foods... Congressmen Oca Rodriguez and Yeng Guiao, Mayors Romy Pecson, Bon Alejandrino, Eddie Guerrero, Boking Morales, Ed Pamintuan were some of the faces I saw in the crowd. The party was a huge success. "Malakas talaga ang hatak ni Nanay Baby."
