Bomb blast hurts plantation worker

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- An improvised bomb explosion injured a plantation worker in Basilan province early Thursday morning.

Sumisip police chief Alchmad Alibonga said the incident took place around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the village Mangal.

Alibonga identified the victim as Marcos Yagao, 36, who works as a rubber tapper of Mangal Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development Cooperative (Marbedco).

He said Yagao was tapping rubber trees when the bomb exploded. The victim was brought to a hospital.

Alibonga said they believed the Abu Sayyaf Group is behind the bombing. (Sunnex)
