Mobile commerce ‘growing in PH’

MOBILE commerce is growing in the Philippines, shopping website said.

In a recent study by the market research firm TNS, 53 percent of all respondents from Metro Manila already own a smartphone. For 2015, it is estimated that the Philippines will still witness a 22 percent year-on-year increase in smartphone adoption, as cited in the recent report of IDC, coupled with the 42 percent increase in the sales of smartphones, as cited in the recent report of GfK.

The growth makes M-Commerce more and more viable and conducive among Filipinos.

“While the M-Commerce infrastructure is definitely booming, Filipinos are now adopting the mobile lifestyle wherein everyone is living on a faster-paced lifestyle and mobile phones are becoming a survival tool more than just a communication accessory,” the company said in a press statement.

The company said its data showed:

l Mobile traffic constitutes more than 50 percent of daily traffic of;

l Since its launch in early 2014, the Lazada mobile app downloads have grown 18 percent month-on-month on iOS and Android;

l Each mobile app and mobile browser user spends an average of 5 minutes shopping online;

l Mobile App users shop more regularly and make more purchases per year;

l 60 percent of those who shop via mobile are female customers between the ages of 24 and 35;

l Most mobile users shop during lunch breaks (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and before they go to bed (9:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.);

l Fashion, health and beauty, electronics, as well as home and living items are currently the most searched and bought items via mobile. (PR)
