Pampanga cops serious on anti-drug campaign

CAMP OLIVAS -- The provincial police has intensified its campaign against illegal drugs following a directive issued by Governor Lilia Pineda.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Pampanga police director, said hundreds of drug pushers and users were apprehended all over the province since he informed the chiefs of police about the governor's directive.

Over the weekend, the Porac Police arrested six drug pushers in different anti-illegal drugs operation, he said.

Superintendent Neil Miro, chief of police of Porac, said the first buy-bust operation was conducted at Phase 2, Barangay Manibaug Pasig, Porac, Pampanga which resulted in the arrest of Teddy Santos, alias Bernie, 35, of Barangay Manibaug, Pasig, Porac, Pampanga.

Santos was arrested after he was caught selling suspected shabu.

Police confiscated from Santos a P500 bill used as marked money.

Albert Calara, 21, Norberto Lorente, and Jaypie Yumul, 29, all residents of Manibaug, Porac were also arrested in the same operation.

The suspects were in possession of shabu, according to the local police.

Another buy-bust operation was conducted on Feb. 19 against Rolly Miclat alias Jack, 35, at Barangay Sta. Cruz, Porac.

Seized from Miclat is a small sachet containing suspected shabu.

On the same day, policemen conducted a buy-bust operation which resulted in the arrest of Jose Mari Bonifacio, 32, of Barangay Pio, Porac. The suspect later yielded six plastics with shabu and P500 marked money used in the operation.

The suspects were charged in court for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (Ric Sapnu)
