Purisima tests IBO-Intercon champ Tabugon on March 8

REIGNING Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight champion Juan “Punisher’ Purisima will test defending International Boxing Organization (IBO) Inter-continental light flyweight champion Raymund “Tornado” Tabugon in a 10-round main event of the 1st Mayor Dibu Tuan-Yanig sa T’boli’ on March 8 at T’boli Municipal gym in South Cotabato.

Presented by Sanman Promotions in cooperation with the municipality of T’boli, the Top Prime Stable’s fighter Purisima, with a record of 11 victories, six defeats and a draw with four knockouts, aims to get back to his old form after suffering three consecutive defeats, including a second round upset against world-rated Froilan Saludar in Cagayan de Oro last October 4, and a third round TKO against undefeated Roman Gonzales in their face-off in Tokyo, Japan last year.

Purisima also failed at his first world title try against Ukrainian Artem Dalakian by a unanimous decision for the World Boxing Association’s International flyweight championship held in 2013 in Donbass Arena, Donetsk, Ukraine.

Tabugon, also a World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Boxing Council Continental flyweight title holder, has a record of 15 wins, three loses, and a draw, including six knockouts.

He saw action last December with a unanimous victory over Luzuko Sivo for the IBO Intercontinental light flyweight belt in Eastern Cape, South Africa. (HGD)
