Villanueva, Asenjo vow tobeat foes in Boxing Revo 4

Sonshine Boxing Stable bets Lorenzo “Thunderbolt” Villanueva and Rommel Asenjo has vowed to beat their respective opponents as they step into the ring in the undercard bouts of Boxing Revolution 4: The Road to the WBF Championship slated on December 12 at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

Villanueva, who is set for a 130-lbs collision against Cebu City’s Jerry Castroverde in the main undercards, told members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) during its forum at the SM City Davao Annex on Thursday, that while he has yet to scout the fighting style of his opponent, he remains confident as they have made ample preparations for the bout.

“Wala pa nako nakita akong kalaban pero tanaw nako kaya nako siya pildihon kay sobra-sobra na ang among training ug naatiman mi ug maayo ni coach, (I have not seen my opponent yet but I think I can beat him since we have done more than enough training and we are being taken care of by our coach.)” Villanueva said, adding that he vows to build a winning streak after demolishing his opponent in the previous staging of Boxing Revolution 3 earlier this year.

Asenjo, meanwhile, said that their training camp has started last August and he believes he has enough time to be on tip-top shape come his 106-lbs bout against Cebu City’s Bonjun Loperez.

Richard Reyes of Sonshine Sports Management Inc., for his part, said that Boxing Revolution 4 is an early Christmas present for the Dabawenyo boxing fans as the admission to the event is free.

The event will feature 11 bouts including five 10-roundrs, two six-rounders and three four rounders. It will be headlined by World Boxing Fedration (WBF) Asia Pacific bantamweight title bout between challenger Sonshine Boxing Stable standout Edrin “The Sting” Dapudong and defending champ Kenny Demecillo.

Reyes also expressed his confidence for the new management of Sonshine Sports Management Inc. under Hermenegildo Cardona saying, “We can only expect big fights under Sir Cardona since we want to show what Sonshine Sports Management can bring but we can also assure that under the supervision of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy we can give the Dabawenyos and other boxing fans in Mindanao a great event.”
