Voter registration center set up at Iloilo shopping mall

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo City has temporarily shifted the registration of voters to a satellite site at a downtown mall.

The Satellite Voter Registration Center at Robinson's Place Iloilo opened last Wednesday and will accommodate applicants until today.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The center will also process applications for transfer of registration, change of status, change of name, correction of entry, reactivation of registration, or inclusion of name in the list of voters, and validation of registration records.

Comelec Election Officer Reinier B. Layson said the registration at Comelec office at the Iloilo Terminal Market building will resume on Sunday, March 8.

Layson said the satellite office registration aims to help decongest registration for the 2016 presidential elections and give time for the Comelec to update its voter registration records.

Persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are residents of Iloilo City who want to register or update their registration records are encouraged to go the registration center at Robinson's Place, which is more accessible and convenient than the Office of the City Election Officer at the terminal market building.

The registration center, on the third floor of the mall, is accessible by elevator and escalator for PWDs, senior citizens, and pregnant women who have their own express lanes.
