CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama wants all nine police officers who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs to be fired.

He also wants the P4,000 monthly allowance the City is giving them stopped.

The mayor said he doesn’t favor transferring or reassigning the nine policemen, saying they might just be involved in the same illegal activity in their new assignment.

“They should all be out of service,” he said.

If the policemen are given new employment, Rama said, they have to be conclusively that they are no longer involved in any illegal activity.

The names of the nine policemen were submitted by Councilor Dave Tumulak to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Intelligence Branch last Thursday morning.

Tumulak, head of the City Government’s Peace and Order Program, wants CCPO to not only fire the policemen but also to put them to jail.

CCPO is now validating the report submitted by Tumulak.

Senior Supt. Conrado Capa, officer-in-charge of CCPO, said they will also submit this to the validation board of Regional Intelligence Division (RID) to help in their investigation.

To prove these police officers are engaged in the illegal activity, he urged those who reported it to Tumulak to testify.

“It will be the best scenario. They will be brave enough to tell and hold on to their story,” said Capa, also deputy director for operations of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.

He said they can also conduct entrapment operations on the alleged drug coddlers.

Supt. Romeo Santander, CCPO’s City Intelligence Branch (CIB) chief, also urged the community to cooperate if they have any information.

These police officers, he said, hold a rank of police officer 1 to police officer 3. They are assigned in police stations.

Santander said some of them were already investigated, but were only relieved from their assignments due to lack of evidence.
