Smart takes home 18 Quill awards

SMART Communications, Inc. (Smart) shone anew at the Philippine Quill Awards, taking home 18 citations for various marketing, human resources, and corporate social responsibility programs.

Organized by the International Association of Business Communicators-Philippines, the Philippine Quill Awards recognizes excellence in professional communication. Awarding ceremonies were held recently in Quezon City.

Presented with excellence awards in two categories – advertising campaigns and marketing communication – was the launch campaign for Spinnr. The homegrown music service has influenced the music-listening habits of Filipinos by offering affordable streaming packages for as low as P2.50 per day, on top of free radio, exclusive promos, merchandise, meet-and-greet opportunities, and concert events by the biggest names in local and foreign music.

Earlier this month, Spinnr was named the world’s Best Mobile Music App at the GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona, Spain.

Also accorded the excellence award was the event Drop 600, where mall-goers were dared to “take a leap of faith” and drop P600 inside a box. A woman took the dare and was surprised with a bag of Spinnr merchandise, two VIP tickets to Taylor Swift’s concert, an iPad Mini, iPhone 5C, portable speakers, and a year’s worth of unlimited music streaming via Spinnr.

The video of the event which became viral online got a merit award, under the category digital communication channels.

Project Evolver, a Sun Cellular postpaid campaign highlighting convenient and affordable mobile Internet services, won an excellence award under the category digital communication channels, and a merit citation under the marketing communication category.

Another excellence awardee was Talk ‘N Text Panalo Ka Pilipinas, a nationwide campaign reinforcing the brand essence of “Araw-Araw Panalo” to the mass market, through fiesta tours and Anibersaya activities.

Smart’s human resources programs also collected excellence awards. Paskong Pasasalamat was Smart’s 2014 Christmas and yearend celebration where employees were encouraged to help rebuild the lives of Yolanda survivors. (PR)
