Repair unserviceable fire hydrants, Baciwa told

THE City Council has approved a resolution requiring the Bureau of Fire Protection (BOF) and the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) to ready the fire hydrants around the city.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Em Ang, is requiring the BOF and Baciwa to inspect all fire hydrants in the city and repair those that are unserviceable, so these are readily serviceable in case of fire.

It has been observed that some fire hydrants need repair or are serviceable and therefore cannot be used when needed during fire incidents, it said.

In case of fire, water should be ready anytime, it added.

Republic Act 9514, which established the fire code of the Philippines, BFP has the task of determining “the optimal number of equipment, including, but not limited to, fire trucks and fire hydrants, required by every local government unit for the proper delivery of fire protection services in its jurisdiction, the resolution said.
