A VILLAGE official was killed in a gun attack in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Thursday.
Zamboanga del Sur Police Director Sofronio Ecaldre said the incident took place around 7 p.m. Wednesday at Purok Santan in Barangay Cogon, Vincenzo Sagun town.
He identified the village official as Sanelyn Digol, 27, of Cogon village, Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur, who was driving a motorcycle on the way home when the suspect accosted her.
Digol came from her class in Margosatubig town when the attack happened. He was brought to the Margosatubig Regional Hospital by responding policemen who found her sprawled on the pavement but he did not reach the hospital alive.
The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, said Ecaldre.
