Davsur to highlight 2 big projects in investment gab

THE Davao del Sur Provincial Government will highlight two large industrial estate projects to potential investors during the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), slated on March 30 to April 1.

Ernesto M. Tomas Jr., Mindanao Development Authority (Minda) chief for investment promotion division, told Sun.Star Davao in an interview on Tuesday that Davao del Sur Governor Claude P. Bautista will be joining to the investment gab to look for potential locators and investors for the Davao South Marina and Industrial Park and the Davao South Greenspace Eco-Industrial Park.

Davao South Marina and Industrial Park is an eco-city by the sea in Malita that will rise in a 1,000 hectare property, which will be comprised of a 600-megawatt power plant, shipyard building facilities, leisure facilities, hotels, marina, and yacht club.

The Davao South Greenspace Eco-Industrial Park will rise in a 450-ha. lot in Sta. Cruz. It will house a world-class seaport and logistics center, business park and information technology hub, and eco-industrial park for manufacturing.

The industrial park will also employ green technologies like rainwater harvesting system, retention ponds, resource recovery programs, reducing urban heat island effect, provisions for mass transit, shore side power, and coastal protection.

Locators in the industrial park will enjoy investment incentives from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) and the Davao del Sur Investment Promotions and Incentives Office.

Tomas said Bautista also participated with the Philippine delegation last year, but he only presented opportunities for investments in the province in general unlike this time where he is presenting well-defined investment opportunities.

Aside from Davao del Sur, the Davao City Investment Promotion Center is also expected to highlight 12 city projects, wherein eight are for public-private partnership (PPP) while the other four projects for grant scheme.

The eight PPP projects include government center, light rail transit or mass rail transit, waste-to-energy project, theme park, roll-on roll-off connectivity, F. Bangoy International Airport rehabilitation project, air connectivity, and Port Sasa Modernization project.

The four projects for grant scheme are the halal slaughter house, halal hub or Islamic Center, city hospital, and an Islamic University.

The Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., which will be represented by DCCCII executive vice president Arch. Daniel T. Lim, will also be promoting the Davao Investment Conference in a bid to invite foreign investors to come to Davao.
