Celebrating 80 good years

YELLOW was the lucky color in the year 1935 when Remedios Bangkolo Genito was born in Ilog. So for her 80th birthday, her son, Mark, who masterstroked the event with his American-based sisters, Isabel and Nenette, who came home for the occasion, the party’s theme was definitely the color yellow.

A simple lady by essence even when she was first lady of Ilog to her mayor-husband, Romeo, Tita Remy Vargas did not want a flamboyant celebration, but 80 is 80 and the kids would not have it any other way.

After she was widowed, Tita Remy knew life goes on. She continued her work with the less fortunate of the community.

A staunch member of the Catholic Women’s League and more religious groups in St. John’s Parish in Ilog, church needs and projects are a priority in her life. She likewise involved herself with managing their farm in Ilog and Cauayan.

Looking radiant in her John-john Ditching gown, Mark observed that his Mom had an extra glow that evening. The presence of family members from the Genito and Vargas side plus friends who came all the way from Kabankalan, Ilog and more destinations, but most especially to be surrounded by her children made the day truly special for her.

Happy birthday, Tita Remy! May God shower you with more years of good health and prosperity.
