MANILA -- Former television actress and model Pia Wurtzbach finally nailed the elusive Miss Universe-Philippines crown on Sunday night after three tries.
Representing the city of Cagayan de Oro, Wurtzbach bested 33 other candidates in the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 competition at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Wurtzbach also won the Miss Cream Silk award.
Asked by Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo in the question and answer round about her thoughts on Internet censorship, Wurtzbach underscored the importance of responsible use of social media.
"I think that we should be careful with what we post online, especially our thoughts and our opinions that we don't hurt anybody," she said. "We have to be careful with what we post, especially with our bodies and our faces. So always think before you click."
Wurtzbach had been vocal about clinching the country's most coveted beauty title this year following a first runner-up finish in 2013 and top 15 stint in 2014.
The 25-year-old said she found inspiration in 2014 winner MJ Lastimosa, who also took the title on her third attempt.
“Nakapagpahinga ako at nakapag-isip isip ako. Nakapag-decide ako na gusto ko lumaban ulit. Dapat lang naman talaga na never give up hangga’t kaya pa and nandiyan pa yung opportunity. Kasi ayaw ko magsisi. Ayaw ko isipin pagtanda ko na, 'paano kaya kung sumali ako ulit?' Gusto ko ma-try ko na ngayon,” Wurtzbach said in a television interview last January.
Janicel Lubina and Rogelie Catacutan were crowned Bb. Pilipinas International and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational, respectively.
Lubina also took home the Best in Long Gown and Best in Swimsuit awards.

Meanwhile, television personality Teresita "Winwyn" Marquez, daughter of actors Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez, made it in the Top 15.
She was also named Best in Talent, Best in National Costume and won the She's so JAG 2015 special award.
Other winners are Toni Hipolito (Bb. Friendship), Cannielle Santos (Miss Photogenic and Manila Bulletin Choice Award), and Kylie Verzosa (Bb. Philippine Airlines),
The 52nd edition of Binibining Pilipinas pageant was hosted by ABS-CBN talents Xian Lim and Toni Gonzaga, along with former beauty queens Shamcey Supsup, Venus Raj and Ariella Arida.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima led the panel of judges, which also include comedian Vice Ganda, college basketball superstar Kiefer Ravena and Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. (Sunnex)
