Red Cross aids 4,000 people during 'Undas' 2015

THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) provided on Sunday first aid assistance to more than 4,000 people as part of its "Oplan Kaluluwa" operations during the annual observance of the All Saints' Day.

According to the PRC, a total of 4,170 patients have been served by Red Cross volunteers nationwide from Saturday, October 31, until 4 p.m., November 1.

Majority of the cases involved the checking of blood pressures with 3,867.

A total of 267 minor cases were also recorded, including sprain, headache, dizziness, laceration, shortness of breath, abrasion, fainting, wound cleaning, hypoglycemia, and heat exhaustion.

Eight major cases have also been reported, particularly hypertension, fall, laceration at the back of the head, difficulty in breathing, diarrhea, and vehicular accident.

The major cases were reported in Quezon City (2), Rizal (2), Manila (1), Compostela Valley (1), Zamboanga del Norte (1), and Camarines Norte (1).

The PRC earlier announced its presence in 277 cemeteries in the country, as well as in 11 sea ports, and airports, and 12 bus terminals.

There are also 310 first aid stations, 72 ambulances on stand-by, and 1,810 first aiders in the said areas.

The PRC said it will continue to be present nationwide until the successful observance of the All Souls' Day today (Monday) is completed.
