Ateneo sends 4 squads to Pilipinas Cup

SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) will field four teams in the upcoming Pilipinas Cup 2017 on Oct. 28 to 31 at the Clark Freeport in Pampanga. SHS-Adc will compete in the Girls Under-17, Boys Under-16, Boys Under-12 and Under-10 divisions.

“It’s more of an exposure trip for all,” said SHS-AdC athletic director Rico Navarro told SunStar Cebu. “The main objective is to face the tough opposition from other areas and learn from this. At this point, it’s tough to say how we’ll do. For goal purposes, this will be to make it to the knockout stage.”

The Girls Under-17 is competing against eight other teams - Westfields International School FC, Assumption College, Bicol - Penafrancia United FC, Miriam College, MFC, Poveda, Tuloy sa Don Bosco and Luenthai Football School. The SHS-AdC squad is still composed of the core of the Aboitiz Football Cup and Cviraa futsal champion that includes the likes of former national team players Itsuko Bacatan, Arantxa Trebol and Alex Gumilao.

SHS-AdC will be facing Manila Soccer Academy, GOM Center of Excellence - B, Stallions FC, Colegio San, Agustin Makati, Global Cebu FC, Higala FC, Blue Knights FC, Virac FC, Alab FC, GOM Center of Excellence - A in the Boys Under-16 category. (EKA)
