ARCHCON 2017 is on its way and hobbyists are already on the edge of their seats as the preparation for this year’s Archcon rings the loudest.
Archcon is an abbreviation for Anime, Role-playing, Comics and Hobbies Convention and has been around for 14 years. The event is usually organized by the alumni of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), AMTG (Anime, Manga, Trading Cards and Gaming) Brigade.
For this year, Archcon will be held on Oct. 28 and 29 in Robinsons Galleria’s Trade Hall. The event will be hosting DotA 2, Overwatch, League of Legends, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Brothers and Hearthstone tournaments. There’s also the Pokemon Gym Challenge and the very first Archcon Game Jam.
“We’re partnering up with Red Trident gaming for a competition for a group who can turn in a developed game with P10,000 as prize. This is for fostering the gaming community not only for the players but also for the game creators, because it’s an industry in itself and we want to cultivate and develop that,” said Claire Codilla, one of the alumni of SHS-AdC and part of the core organizers of ARCHcon 2017. “This is something that Archcon supports in partnership with the Domination League of University of the Visayas New School of Arts and Design (UVNS) who share the same vision,” said Claire.
The event will also be hosting a Gunpla building competition to cater to figure collectors, and there will also be expos for different toys and a cosplay competition for the cosplayers.
There will also be a digital drawing competition and a digital photography competition also hosted by UVNS. Suzzane Ezra Irasga, known as Suzzysaur, a live-stream gamer and the mascot for Rumble Royale, will also be a guest in Archcon 2017.
All the proceeds of Archcon 2017 will be given to SHS-AdC Blue Plate Mission, a charity organization. (PR)
