Pineda: GLF Caravan launched at Robinsons Magnolia

LAST October 20, 2017 the giant lantern festival committee held the first leg of its caravan at Robinsons Magnolia, Manila.

Various types of lanterns are on display at the mall's atrium. Lanterns for sale were given at a very affordable price. This is a part of promoting the craftsmanship of our cabalens.

Also, it is a part of disseminating info about the forthcoming giant lantern festival competition which will be held on December 17 at the grounds of Robinsons Starmills.

The giant lantern festival started way back in the 1930s, the lantern festival or locally called as Ligligan Parul truly shows Filipino culture as it displays world-class lanterns or parol made by the locals.

The first lantern festival was held to honor then-president Manuel L. Quezon. At the time, he made Arayat his rest area and converted Mount Arayat into a tourist resort. To show their gratitude to Pres. Quezon, the people of San Fernando held a Christmas lantern contest to honor the first family.

Giant Christmas lanterns are usually made with bamboo frames or some with steel, colored plastics or fiberglass, and handmade paper. They also use more than 5,000 colored light bulbs and hundreds of wires to make it more colorful and vibrant.

People from different regions and even from outside the country visit and go to Pampanga just to witness the biggest and brightest Christmas event in the Philippines.

As if their creativity isn’t enough, lanterns every year are getting more and more extravagant and vibrant which makes spectators come back for more.

A former Pinoy Big Brother housemate is set to join GMA-7's new drama series The One That Got Away starring Rhian Ramos, Dennis Trillo, Lovi Poe, and Max Collins.

Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Jason Francisco is now officially a GMA-7 talent.

He is part of the upcoming romantic-drama series The One That Got Away (Totga), starring Lovi Poe, Max Collins, Rhian Ramos, and Dennis Trillo.

Jason, who joined showbiz via Pinoy Big Brother Season 3: Double Up (2009), has already left Star Magic.

The husband of Melai Cantiveros is now under PPL Entertainment, Inc., the management agency owned by Perry P. Lansigan.

A story conference for GMA's new primetime show The One That Got Away was held on October 25. Also present during the storycon were Migo Adecer, and Ivan Dorschner, another PBB housemate-turned-Kapuso star.

Jason Abalos, the latest transferee from ABS-CBN, was recently introduced as one of the leading men in The One That Got Away.

Other cast members include StarStruck 6 First Princess Ayra Mariano, Ervic Vijandre, Nar Cabico, and veteran actors Bembol Roco and Snooky Serna.

It was also seen in the photos that Dennis cut his hair short for this new show. Since March, he had a long hairstyle for the now defunct telefantasya Mulawin vs. Ravena.

This is Jason Francisco's first regular teleserye as a Kapuso.

Last July 2017, he was first seen in GMA-7 when he had a special appearance in the pilot episode of Alyas Robin Hood. This action drama series is top-billed by Dingdong Dantes.
