A POLICEWOMAN of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is facing charges after she threatened a man inside a convenience store on 13th Lacson Street, Bacolod City early Friday morning, October 27.
Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, public information officer of BCPO, said Police Officer 1 Kriscel Mae Doctora of Barangay 7, with her two friends went to the store, where the group of Rexie Panoncillo, 28, of Barangay Mandalagan, was having a drinking session around 1 a.m.
An argument ensued between them when one of Panoncillo’s friends stared at the policewoman’s friend.
Panoncillo tried to pacify his friend and the police officer, but the latter allegedly pulled her firearm and pointed it at him.
Personnel of Police Station 2 responded and brought Doctora to the station, where she was detained.
She yielded government issued Glock 17 caliber .9mm with a magazine loaded with five ammunition.
Vargas said a case for grave threat was filed against Doctora before the City Prosecutor’s Office Friday but the fiscal downgraded the offense to other light threats.
She was able to post a bail of P500.
Vargas said Doctora’s action is not tolerated by the BCPO.
She said Superintendent Roderick Minong, officer-in-charge of BCPO, ordered an investigation.
Doctora, who is assigned at Police Station 8’s Women and Children Protection Desk, will also face administrative charges once proven guilty of the offense.
Vargas said the incident should serve as a reminder to policemen especially new members of the organization to always exercise self-control.
