Kadayawan Village opens anew

THE Kadayawan Tribal Village will officially re-open on Monday, October 30.

Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) office in-charge Generose Tecson announced on Sunday, October 29, that the village will open at Magsaysay Park at 4 p.m..

"The 11 tribes has prepared a short program and it is open to the public," Tecson said.

The Davao City Council previously passed a resolution to reconsider the re-opening of the village after it had a very positive tourism impact during the Kadayawan week last August.

Tecson said today's opening was decided by the deputy mayors.

She said that the opening took time because the CTTO have to ensure that there are house-in-charges, who will man the houses on a daily basis.

"They were hired by the city as job order, they were chosen by the deputy mayors based on their knowledge of their culture," Tecson said.

She added that the opening program was also planned by the 11 tribes, and the CTOO only assisted to make sure that the program won't exceed an hour.
