THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has mounted tarpaulins in police stations, schools, and police offices condemning the attack of New People's Army (NPA) against policemen of Cauayan town last October 3.
The tarpaulin reads “Ang mga Kapulisan sang Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office ma bakod nga nagapamatok sa pa traidor nga pamaagi nga gin himo sang Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA sa kapulisan sang Cauayan kag pag paniro sa mga sibilyan nga wala sag kalooy sang petsa 3 sang Oktubre 2017. (The personnel of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office strongly condemn the treachery of the CPP-NPA against the policemen of Cauayan and the ruthless shooting of civilians on October 3, 2017. This is the true face of the CPP-NPA, they don’t value the lives of civilians).
Four weeks ago, Senior Police Officer (PO) 1 Jeorge Anthony Lorenton, PO3 Turk Libo-on, PO2 Thom Amable Mamigo, and PO1s John Mabayag, and Sunny Boy Llena responded to a call for assistance for alleged robbery hold-up.
On their way to the site, they were ambushed by more or less 30 armed men, but they were able to survive and were unharmed.
However, three civilians, including two foreigners, were injured after they were caught in the crossfire.
The five policemen were awarded the Medalya ng Papuri or the Philippine National Police Commendation Medal for their invaluable services rendered to Police Regional Office-Western Visayas.
Also awarded was station head Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma.
