ONE person died while four others were injured when two motorcycles collided along the national highway in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported on Monday, October 30.
The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula reported the incident happened around 11:20 a.m., Sunday, along the national highway at Sitio Kauswagan in the village of Imelda, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
The police identified the fatality as Nashrodden Alim Putal, 20 years old, a student and a resident of the village of Limbunga, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.
Wounded were Putal’s back riders namely, Marilyn Lingkaton, 18, and Montessa Banggot, 24. The other victims were Mariel Turno, 23, the driver of the other motorcycle and her back rider, Maria Gemma Uy, 44.
Investigation showed that the two motorcycles were travelling on opposite directions and collided upon reaching the junction of the national high-way at Sitio Kauswagan in the village of Imelda, Labason municipality.
Bystanders who saw the accident rushed the victims to the hospital for treatment, the police said.
Putal, however, failed to reached the hospital alive, the police added. (SunStar Philippines)
