290 flower vendors secure special permits

ABOUT 290 flower vendors in Bacolod City secured special permits to sell from October 30 to November 2 for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said Monday, October 30, the flower vendors are selling in the areas of Libertad Market, Mabini Street, Burgos Market, and Bacolod public plaza.

He said the vendors paid P200 for special permit, P100 business tax, and P100 for garbage gees.

Pineda added that kiosks along Burgos public cemetery are also required to secure a special permit to sell candles, bottled water, and candies.

The Task Force All Saints’ Day was also tasked to monitor the vendors in various public cemeteries, he said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia had earlier ordered the Task Force All Saints’ Day to monitor and assist in the implementation and regulation of public markets, plaza, and cemeteries in the city.

Leonardia issued Memorandum No. 168 dated October 24 directing Pineda to coordinate with the City Legal Office, Bacolod City Police Office, and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office.

He said the Department of Public Services was also tasked for the maintenance of cleanliness and collection of garbage during and after of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
