Roadside assistance project kicks off

LAKBAY Alalay 2017, a roadside assistance project of the District Engineering offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao, kicked off on Tuesday, October 31, until November 2 in line with the observance of All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day. It is designed to give immediate assistance to emergency situations in strategic locations along major thoroughfares.

In a Facebook post of DPWH-Davao, it said that they are ready to provide road assistance through their composite team to the motorists as well as to the general public for a safe trip in coordination with other law enforcers.

The assistance will be available from 5 p.m. of October 31 until 12 noon of November 2 as they expect a large volume of vehicles and people who will be going to different cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones.

"Should you need assistance, please take note of the following locations and our people will be more than happy to help," the post read.

In Davao City, these assistance centers are in place along Junction Davao-Cotabato Road-Quimpo Boulevard (Lion's Waiting Shed), Davao Bukidnon Road (Toril St. before Los Amigos) and Davao-Cotabato Road (in front of St. Peter's, Toril).

In Davao Oriental, these can be found in Macapagal Highway (Badas View Deck), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (Junction Manikling), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (Pintatagan Welcome Arl), Manikling - Governor Generoso Road (Sta. 1772+200), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (in front of Carmen Public Market), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (Junction Baculin), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (Makahigat), Diosdado Macapagal Highway (near Shell Gasoline Station) and Diosdado Macapagal Highway (in front of Tarragona Municipal Hall.

In Davao del Sur, assistance center is located in Davao-Cotabato Road (near Lion's Club Monument) while in Davao Occidental, it is located in Malalag-Malita-Glan Road (DPWH Office/Spamast Barangay Buhangin, Malita).

In Compostela Valley, meanwhile, assistance center is at Daang Maharlika (near Nabunturan Cemetery) and for Davao del Norte, it is along Daang Maharlika (DPWH DdN DEO, Canocotan Tagum City).
