Newborn baby abandoned in an internet cafe

A NEWBORN baby boy was found abandoned by his 19-year-old mother in an internet cafe in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City yesterday.

Chief Insp. Genilo Veraque, chief of Mandaue Police Station 2, said that the older sister of the mother coordinated with the police and told them that her sibling admitted she had just given birth to a boy.

The baby, who was still alive, was found by some neighbors at 4 a.m. and was brought to a private hospital.

Veraque said his office will coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 on the custody of the baby. (FMG)
